A San Bernardino DUI conviction could mean that the party in question – as part of their court-ordered sentence/penalties – has to attend a DUI class/program. Approved by the court, these are educational programs meant to teach people about alcohol’s effects on drivers, how to avoid future offenses, and long-term/immediate DUI consequences. Completing DUI classes successfully can mean the difference between having your license reinstated or not.
DUI Education Class Completion
Whether your probation requires you to take DUI education classes or you’re doing it voluntarily, there are numerous benefits to completing the program. Here are some of them:
- You will hopefully, upon completion of the course, be able to make better life decisions and gain control of your addiction.
- Alcohol abuse has certain triggers. These classes will help you identify them.
- Whatever it takes, you want to avoid future DUI offenses. This program will help you realize and avoid the grave consequences of more convictions.
- If you can, you want to avoid harsh DUI punishments. Successfully completing these programs helps you do exactly that.
- Most often, one requirement of probation is to successfully complete a DUI education program. If you don’t complete it; you don’t get your license back.
DUI Educational Programs
DUI school may last as long as three months or could be completed as briefly as six weeks. At the time of your arrest, your BAC level, as well as your DUI arrest history, will both help to determine the length of the program appropriate for you. You must meet all program requirements to successfully complete DUI school. Typically, during your orientation, these requirements will be discussed.
As long as you make up for them, you can miss some online or face-to-face DUI classes. Program dismissal will, however, result from too many absences and that, in turn, will have consequences most severe.
Who Are DUI Classes for?
DUI schools – or DUI alcohol education and treatment programs – are usually where DUI offenders are ordered to go by judges in any number of our United States. You will be responsible for the cost of the classes if your DUI classes are court-mandated. This can be as much as a few thousand dollars down to a few hundred. The price will have everything to do with whether you choose online treatment, in-person classes, and how many hours of completion are required.
If you think that your daily life is being affected by drug and alcohol use, or after committing a DUI offense, you can attend a DUI class voluntarily. In other words, these classes are for more than just those who are required by the courts to attend. They are in no way exclusive to DUI-convicted individuals.
