Approximately 1.5 million people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or both in a given year. This information comes to us courtesy of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. What that boils down to is that the number of licensed people arrested for drunk driving is roughly 1 out of every 121 drivers.

How many of those are repeat offenders? Approximately 29%.

If, within 10 years of their previous DUI, offenders have a second and subsequent DUI offense, they may need to complete a multiple offender program. Based on prior convictions (among other things), DUI offenders may need to enroll in either a 12-month or 18-month program.

Let’s take a look at the multiple offender programs offered by Jackson-Bibby Awareness Group, their key components, and why they were developed.

Creation and Benefits Of DUI Programs

In many states, strict penalties are imposed upon those convicted of DUI (driving under the influence). In many instances, these cases can even include jail time. Considering the fact that everyone makes mistakes, judges may offer a second chance to first offenders. DUI offenders may need to complete DUI classes and go for follow-up testing/treatment as per the judge’s orders. If these DUI programs are completed, drivers can get their suspended licenses back.

These programs offer first-time DUI offenders a chance to wipe the slate clean. The sessions not only offer some relief to those who attend, but they can also learn more about the dangers of driving under the influence and explore other related topics. The main goal is to discourage person from committing another DUI offense.

Hopefully, those who complete such programs do not become multiple offenders. Unfortunately, some do. This is where the programs detailed above come in – for multiple offenders. Very severe punishments can result from multiple offenses, depending on the laws in each state.

Multiple Offender Programs Offered Through Jackson-Bibby

At Jackson-Bibby Awareness Group, we understand the seriousness of COVID-19 so – rather than in-person sessions – we are offering DUI telehealth sessions. We believe that the best way of conducting treatment and promoting rehabilitation (given the current pandemic situation) is through these DUI telehealth sessions. For a limited time only, these sessions are conducted via an online platform. Regular classes/sessions will resume once the pandemic is under control and/or as soon as it’s possible, whichever comes first. Feel free to take a look at our FAQs if there is anything you are unsure of.
